NYS Library: Performers and Programs Webinar Online

Did you know there is a statewide resource provided by the New York State Library that lists over 400 different performers and presenters who offer over 1,700 in-person and virtual programs for library and school settings? These programs are specifically aimed at youth and student events and activities like Summer Reading, literacy and education programs, and year-round reading and learning programs and activities in public libraries and schools and school libraries.

The New York State Performers and Programs database is a searchable online resource that lists performer and program related information in a huge variety of categories.  The resource features educational and entertaining programs along with presenter contact information, making it easy to find just the right program for your library or other educational organization or venue.  All programs listed provide descriptions and pricing, as well as contact information for the presenter and links to their social media platforms so you can check out their offerings for yourself.  Program presenters create an account in the database and update and maintain their own information, but all listings have been vetted by the Regional Coordinator for that part of the state before they are added to the database.

And Performers and Programs is not limited to those who reside or present programs only in NY state.  A virtual category was added to the database in 2020, so now presenters from around the country can create an account and list their virtual offerings along with in-person programs.  This means that libraries and schools have an even wider range of programs to choose from.

Attendees will learn how to navigate and effectively search the Performers and Programs database, as well as how to promote the resource to performers and presenters in their region or community.  The webinar will be delivered by Peter Kowalski, who is the database manager for Performers and Programs, with an introduction by Sharon Phillips, Youth Services Program Manager for the New York State Library. There will be time for questions and the webinar will be recorded.
