Grab a Slice: Salaries & Staffing In-Person

Public libraries require well-trained and professional staff in order to provide the services their communities expect and deserve. But libraries are often understaffed, and recruitment and retention of qualified library staff is a perennial challenge. When libraries lose staff to other local employers, it's often due to better pay, healthcare, more hours, or opportunities for leadership or advancement - and then the library has to start all over again.

Join us at NCLS for a discussion about how you can work with your board to staff your organization to the very best of your ability. We'll talk about salaries, benefits, part-time vs. full-time positions, and how much staff your library needs not only to survive, but to thrive.

This session is part of our Grab a Slice series, where North Country librarians meet up at the NCLS Service Center in Watertown for a pizza lunch, followed by an afternoon of in-person discussions that will help foster communication and build relationships with your professional library network.
